Just 105 miles from Rio de Janeiro, a pleasant 2-hour trip takes you to the peninsula of Búzios, whose more than 20 magnificent beaches and crystal-clear water contrast with the exuberantly sculptured landscape and exotic vegetation, which a prodigal "Mother Nature" has privileged with a wonderful year-round summer.     
Originally settled by European pirates and slave traders, this happy mixture of many bloods prospered and became a picturesque fishing village, elected one of the 10 most beautiful areas in the world, famous for its unique combination of rustic charm, architectural harmony, incredible beauty and sophisticated boutiques and restaurants frequented by discerning visitors who come from all over the world to savor its magic.
Beaches, with diversified formats, from the most visited to the almost desert ones, all of them with from emerald green to sky blue. Beaches with very charming inns and restaurants that serve elaborated Brazilian and international dishes. By night, Rua das Pedras (Pedras' Street), a real walkway in the city center, is very visited by people searching for fun. For maritime sports lovers, there are good conditions for practicing surfing, sailing, windsurfing and diving. You can appreciate other Búzios’ beauties in ship tours or hikes through the Atlantic Forest. The city also offers a special attraction to golfers: a golf course with 18 holes and 7 thousand yards on Búzios Golf Club. Many tourists visit João Fernandes and Ferradura very frequently, where you can rent sports equipments, as jet ski, banana-boat, pedalinho and kayak and windsurf board. In Geribá, the bars at the edge of the beaches are very visited. Iate Clube (Yacht Club) is in the Ossos beach, in the city center, where you can get around in a schooner.
To those people who prefer tranquility, there are isolated and native beaches – in Rasa beach, with calm water and constant winds, it’s possible to practice windsurf. The Brava beach, as its name supposes, has big waves good for surfing. There are also beaches with nature pools or big coasts sought by divers, as Ferradurinha, Azeda and Azedinha beaches. The nudists go to the small beach Olho de Boi, hidden by enormous rocks. There are several tourist schooners that sail through beaches and islands on the Búzios coast. Another option is going on tours in fishermen ships, the trawlers, and the visitor has the chance of fishing. Bars that offer drinks, snacks and a great variety of music, restaurants specialized in different dishes and a lot of people walking around are Rua das Pedras’ marks. It’s the meeting point for those who enjoy the nightlife in Búzios. The time of more intense visitation is special: when the midnight is coming, the street gets crowded and the atmosphere is lively. However, in the mornings, it’s almost desert. About 2:00 p.m., commerce is open. There are several shops: craftwork, decoration, plastic artists’ ateliers and boutiques, some famous brands.
