Just
105 miles from Rio de Janeiro, a pleasant 2-hour trip takes you to the
peninsula of Búzios, whose more than 20 magnificent beaches and
crystal-clear water contrast with the exuberantly sculptured
landscape and exotic vegetation, which a prodigal "Mother
Nature" has privileged with a wonderful year-round summer.
Originally settled by European pirates and slave
traders, this happy mixture of many bloods prospered and became a
picturesque fishing village, elected one of the 10 most beautiful areas
in the world, famous for its unique combination of rustic charm,
architectural harmony, incredible beauty and sophisticated boutiques and
restaurants frequented by discerning visitors who come from all over the
world to savor its magic.
Beaches, with diversified formats, from the most visited to the almost
desert ones, all of them with from emerald green to sky blue. Beaches
with very charming inns and restaurants that serve elaborated Brazilian
and international dishes. By night, Rua das Pedras (Pedras' Street), a
real walkway in the city center, is very visited by people searching for
fun. For maritime sports lovers, there are good conditions for
practicing surfing, sailing, windsurfing and diving. You can appreciate
other Búzios’ beauties in ship tours or hikes through the Atlantic
Forest. The city also offers a special attraction to golfers: a golf
course with 18 holes and 7 thousand yards on Búzios Golf Club. Many tourists
visit João Fernandes and Ferradura very frequently, where you can rent
sports equipments, as jet ski, banana-boat, pedalinho and kayak and
windsurf board. In Geribá, the bars at the edge of the beaches are very
visited. Iate Clube (Yacht Club) is in the Ossos beach, in the city
center, where you can get around in a schooner.
To those people who prefer tranquility, there are isolated and native
beaches – in Rasa beach, with calm water and constant winds, it’s
possible to practice windsurf. The Brava beach, as its name supposes,
has big waves good for surfing. There are also beaches with nature pools
or big coasts sought by divers, as Ferradurinha, Azeda and Azedinha
beaches. The nudists go to the small beach Olho de Boi, hidden by
enormous rocks. There are several tourist schooners that sail through
beaches and islands on the Búzios coast. Another option is going on
tours in fishermen ships, the trawlers, and the visitor has the chance
of fishing. Bars that offer drinks, snacks and a great variety of music,
restaurants specialized in different dishes and a lot of people walking
around are Rua das Pedras’ marks. It’s the meeting point for those
who enjoy the nightlife in Búzios. The time of more intense visitation
is special: when the midnight is coming, the street gets crowded and the
atmosphere is lively. However, in the mornings, it’s almost desert.
About 2:00 p.m., commerce is open. There are several shops: craftwork,
decoration, plastic artists’ ateliers and boutiques, some famous
brands.
